The project team ensures customer success through the implementation of software services.

The Solution Architect plays a crucial role within the services organization, responsible for the solution design on projects. The Solution Architect builds relationships with a portfolio of customers during both pre-sales and project delivery phases, providing objective advice and assistance on strategy, structure, management, and operations to support identified business purposes and objectives.

The Solution Architect offers solution leadership during pre-sales and delivery phases to clients, cross-functional teams, and key suppliers, identifying and defining client business outcomes and managing relationships to ensure outcomes are met within project constraints. You will play a key leadership role in defining, implementing, and maintaining best practices and delivery standards within the internal project team across existing and new opportunities.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the Solution Design of the project
  • Become a “Trusted Advisor” to customers' technologists and internal team
  • Translate electrical market standards and regulations and map them to the product offering
  • Validate design questions on the project while working with the Delivery Manager and internal team to ensure a successful outcome
  • Communicate effectively with the Project Manager, Customer, Project team (APAC and global), DevOps on project and technical items such as project status, risks and mitigation, scope, and issues
  • Validate engineering Gate Reviews (Requirements, Design, Factory Testing Readiness, Site Acceptance Readiness) within the team and with the customer
  • Utilize software delivery performance measurement tools and indicators (e.g. Smartsheets)
  • Use product knowledge and expertise to drive excellence in execution through continuous improvement and change management (cost reduction, lead time reduction, productivity improvement, quality improvement, etc.)
  • Agile mindset and ability to work with one or more Scrum Teams (Region and Global team) to execute and deliver solutions for our customers
  • Good understanding of DevOps concepts, such as automated builds, deployments, and tests, to lead customers and apply those concepts to your daily deliverables
  • Validate project scope review with the Delivery team, identifying, documenting, and estimating any change requests (CR) or project risks with mitigation plans, and working with the Project Manager to communicate with the customer
  • Assist in the tendering process for project proposals or CRs, working with the Customer Engagement team/resource managers to validate scope and estimates, and reviewing each proposal with the customer
  • Ensure a smooth transfer to maintenance at project end
  • Engage in Customer management activities with the Project Manager
  • Work with the Project Manager to report or resolve any process non-conformances in a timely manner

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Technical Leadership of the solution architecture
  • Analyze, define, and prioritize business and functional requirements and processes, and propose technical solutions to address business issues and close inefficiency gaps
  • Responsible for the business requirements through the entire lifecycle of the project from definition, implementation, testing, and delivery
  • Create and maintain relationships with key decision-makers, stakeholders, and third parties
  • Participate in and lead technical requirements workshops
  • Write and present technical proposals and presentations
  • Take ownership of issues and resolve them using self-driven initiative

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or Power Systems Engineering
  • Proven experience in a senior technical consultancy role within the industry
  • Direct customer-facing experience
  • Minimum of 15 years of related work experience leading engineering teams, implementing a suite of products, and engaging directly with customers
  • Minimum 10 years of experience with Digital software SCADA, Energy Management System (EMS), and Distribution Management System (DMS)

  • Strong knowledge of operating systems such as MS-Windows Server and Red Hat Linux
  • Familiar with programming experience in software development with Microsoft Visual Studio/Development tools, Eclipse, C#, and C++ programming
  • Experience in using Virtualization (VMware vSphere, vCenter, vMotion, etc.)
  • Experience in software analysis, design, quality assurance, architecture, and Agile development methodology
  • Basic knowledge of automatic process deployment, continuous improvement (CI), and continuous deployment (CD)
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new software development practices, languages, and tools
  • Familiar with project testing such as Factory Acceptance Test (FAT), Site Acceptance Test (SAT), and User Acceptance Test (UAT)
  • Familiar with web and other technologies such as HTML5, Javascript, CSS, and JQuery, Perl script, Python, strawberry Perl, RDBMS systems such as Oracle, MS-SQL, PostgreSQL, Microsoft Power BI reporting, Crystal Reports, etc.
  • Strong spoken and written English language skills
